Beats and Pieces

Beats and Pieces Music Production Programs

Since 2025, Frank has run the ‘Beats and Pieces’ workshops at different community organisations around Sydney, including Wayside Chapel, Ozanam Learning Centre and Youth Off The Streets (The Lakes College).

These workshops are designed to teach a diverse range of participants how to write, record, and produce music using a professional digital audio workstation. Frank sets up a mobile studio and all equipment is provided, including speakers, headphones, MIDI controllers etc.

Sessions can focus on either technical skills (beat-making, mixing, and music theory), or on writing and producing original music. Whether it’s a one-off session or a full-term program, participants build real skills in music production, sound design and songwriting–while building confidence and expressing themselves musically.

Dave from Bondi, Participant, Wayside Chapel Bondi

Frank’s programme has brought opportunity and encouragement to many at Wayside. His skills, musical and personal, have enabled poets, rappers, singer/songwriters previously without pathways to bring latent thoughts to reality.

Jacq Parkes, Care Coordinator, Wayside Chapel Bondi

Frank provides a safe, inclusive, and creative space for individuals from low socioeconomic background, as well as those living with mental health challenges, to express themselves through music, songwriting, and spoken word. The opportunity is far more than artistic–it is therapeutic, empowering, and often transformative for participants who may otherwise lack access to such resources

Sean Haughian, Care Coordinator, Wayside Chapel

Frank has been running this program for more than a year and it offers far more than just artistic development, it helps build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and emotional expression.

Joe Liddy, Centre Manager, Wayside Chapel Bondi

Frank is a skilled facilitator and excellent musician who fosters a sense of safety and creativity for participants regardless of age or skill level.

Julie Duong, Diversity and Disability Alliance

Working with Frank was a unique experience for our community of people with disability. His talent and patience helped us explore our creative voices through music and storytelling. Frank made our sessions empowering, inclusive, and deeply meaningful.

Maina Gordon, Diversity and Disability Alliance

Frank was very experienced in that it took no time at all for me to be persuaded to write the poem and for him to match it up with some music. Together it was a skilful product which touched the heart and soul.
